1. Why DSL might be a good solution for your business:

Cine.net is providing DSL through GTE. DSL is designed for giving your business a speed advantage at a low price. With DSL service, the high-speed connection to your corporate LAN or Internet Service Provider (ISP) has a bandwidth of up to 1.544 Mbps to your remote site or home (downstream) and up to 384 Kbps to your ISP or corporate LAN (upstream). Other connection speeds available allow the same amount of bandwidth in the upstream and downstream directions, at speeds from 144 Kbps to 1.1 Mbps.

1. Speed Advantage: At speeds ranging from 144Kbps to 1.5Mbps, DSL is the perfect access solution for small business, SOHO, telecommuting, or high-speed personal Internet connectivity. All speeds are symmetric, which means that they operate at the same speed in both directio ns, except for the 1.5Mbps/384Kbps DSL service which offers the faster 1.5Mbps speed in the download direction.

2. Always on: DSL gives you a full-time, "always on" connection, similar to the high speed T-1 based services that most businesses use to connect to the Internet.

3. Easy Installation: Cine.net handles all circuit ordering and installation, as well as providing the hardware required at your end of the circuit. Our qualified installation technicians take care of everything to get your connection installed and operational, making getting connected hassle-free!

4. No second phone line needed: The DSL modem that GTE installs is installed on the line is installed with a "splitter". The splitter will give you 2 ports, one for voice/fax and the other for DSL service. Therefore you can use the line for voice/fax when the DSL is installed. In other words, this eliminates the need for a second phone line.

5. Your own local area network and servers With DSL, you can connect your LAN and run network servers that require full-time connectivity, such as a Web server or mail server. Unlike most ISDN connections, there are no usage charges on either the circuit or the Internet access. Illustration:

  • Multiple users: If you go for a sufficiently high speed, multiple users can access the internet within your organization through twisted pair cables and ethernet cards. Each machine will need a IP address. Each user will then have access to the same speed as the speed to which you have signed up (of course, the actual speed will depend on the distribution of internal usage).
  • Hosting your web server for low volume traffic : If traffic to your web site is going to be small, you could register the domain with us and host the web server at your own site since you are provided with publicly available IP addresses if needed.

    6. Pricing Advantages:

    • Low price for full-time, high-speed Internet connectivity
    • Flat rate pricing. No usage charges, always-on connectivity
    • Prices start as low as $50/month

    2. How is DSL installed?

Is your area covered by Cine.net?: To find that out, go to GTE's web site, go down the page to the concerned section and type in the first 6 digits of your phone number (incluing area code). E.g., if your phone number is (310)-301-4500, then type in 310301. You will then know if you are covered by Cine.net.

Customer Equipment: Once you are covered, then all you need to check is for equipment. The equipment required for DSL service is simply an Ethernet Network Interface Card (NIC) installed in your PC, along with Internet capable software. Alternately, a network hub may be used to attach multiple PCs, or a router may be used to attach a Local Area Network (LAN). The installation service includes testing for Internet connectivity from your PC.

    Notes:
    a) If you don't have a NIC/ethernet card installed in your PC already, our technicians can optionally install and configure an Ethernet card. Some inside wiring might also be required. Please check with us for pricing.

    b) DSL is an enhancement to a base telephone service. You must already have at least 1 line to get DSL on top of it. The invoice for that line (usual base charge) will be received from GTE.

    3. What is the pricing of DSL at Cine.net?

For DSL prices please refer to this link DSL prices comprise of a Cinenet component and a Verizon/GTE component. You will receive two seperate invoices from Cinenet and GTE.

    Installation includes following:

    • Installation of the DSL modem which is shipped to your home address
    • Connection from your site to the Cine.net Network via the DSL network
    • Configuration of Internet connectivity via the Cine.net Network.

4. GTE also provides an internet service for their DSL. Why is it better to sign up with Cinenet?

a) Static IP address blocks are available upon request at a additional charge. We support Macs as well as PC's.

b) We are a small company and provide competent more personalized tech support. We can also make on-site visits if required.

5. How does Cinenet provide internet access to GTE for the joint-DSL connections?

We connect to GTE DSL via multiple T-1 lines. Our upstream internet connection is 10Mb via the Los Nettos/BBN backbone. These can be easily upgraded if capacity constraints are reached.

6. How long will it take to get the DSL up and running?

It takes about 2-3 weeks to get your service set up and running.
